Murphy Stevens
Steven Murphy AKA Murphy Stevens author of
several indoor cannabis cultivation books in the
1970s. Stevens also owned a store that sold
indoor hydroponic cultivation equipment in Seattle
Washington called " Indoor Sun Sales ".
If you follow the history of the Northern Lights
strain it starts with Steven Murphy. A person named Herbie worked at Steven's hydroponic shop, Herbie bread the Purest Indica with another unknown cannabis variety, this cross would become the famous Northern Lights #5 strain. Seattle Greg would acquire some of these cannabis seeds around 1979.
For the next several years Seattle Greg would cultivate and breed these cannabis seeds indoors under lights. This is how the Northern Lights strain got its name, If it wasn't for Steven Murphy,
Herbie, Greg McAllister and Nevil Schoenmakers
the world would be without one of its most beloved cannabis strains, " Northern Lights ".
